Grigorios Ilaridis

Grigorios Ilaridis (b. 1997, Athens, Greece) creates work using his personal archive which could be described as an image vault. Based on pictures taken during his travels, personal memories to art historical and pop culture references, he constructs vibrant and playful collages that serve as the initial blueprint for his artistic exploration.

He breathes life into his creations by translating them into tangible forms through the sculpting process. He transforms them into sculptures of various sizes mixing a diverse range of materials such as acrylic, bronze, wax, plaster , metal, etc.

By intricately combining two- and three-dimensional elements, Grigorios creates contrast that bridges the digital and the sculptural into a vibrant artistic dialogue.

Like fragments of a grand mosaic, he merges his own experiences, growing up in Belgium, with the mythology from his native country Greece, creating an expressive world that serves as a gateway for the viewer to delve into their own interpretations and associations.
