Ever since I was little, I loved to draw. During the bachelor course in illustration at Sint Lucas Antwerp I discovered the fascinating world of image and imagination. The different techniques and materials I learned to work with still invite me to experiment. My sketchbook is the place where I can put my thoughts on paper.
From drawings in my sketchbook, works on fabric emerged. The theme that connects these images is “loneliness”. With pieces of fabric and embroidery, I tried to translate the sensitivity of my sketches onto textiles. I drew inspiration from the drawings but also let my sewing machine and scraps of fabric play a determining role.
I varied between figurative images and abstraction. This way the images remain personal but can also be viewed more broadly.
I designed a construction in which both the front and back can be viewed. This allows you to “look into the heads,” so to speak.
