Alec Geluykens

I am Alec Geluykens, a Master of Fine Arts in the Applied Context from Sint Lucas Antwerp. I primarily navigate the city by bike, a choice that gives me firsthand experience with the challenges faced by cyclists in this city. Despite significant government efforts, cycling infrastructure in Antwerp remains inadequate and sometimes even dangerous in many places.

This work, BTS_200X, is a satirical response to these conditions. Equipped with a coffee machine, airbags, shock absorbers, and a roll cage, it is prepared for the daily obstacles cyclists may encounter in the city. Through this piece, I aim to draw attention to the pressing need for safer, more cyclist-friendly infrastructure in Antwerp.
