Arthur Westhof-Jacobs
Arthur Westhof-Jacobs presents the sculptural part of his project
"Hyperfocus". In this project Arthur explores the complexity of
ADHD, hyperfocus, and self-reflection. By practicing techniques like
smithing in his workshop, he finds peace. Working with his hands is
a form of meditation for him. This process is essential to vent his
chaotic thoughts and bring them into harmony. Arthur experiments
with various techniques to create unique patterns and textures that
symbolize the complex thought processes of an individual with
ADHD.
Hyperfocus is a state of intense concentration where someone
becomes fully immersed in an activity. Despite the difficulties in
concentrating in daily life, he can completely immerse himself in
making art and jewelry, causing a loss of time awareness and
environmental stimuli. Arthur's art serves as a constant reminder for
him to use his hyperfocus productively. Therefore, this collection is
not only an artistic project but also a personal journey towards self-
discovery and balance.
