Lucas de la Rubia

"Within this terrain, sculpture becomes a transitional zone where resonance, silence, and experience remain in continuous transformation."
Lucas de la Rubia’s artistic practice focuses on sculpture as an evocative agent—an object that activates perception, imagination, and sensory projection beyond its material presence. His works do not serve as final destinations of aesthetic experience but as mediums that expand
and reconfigure perception.
Moving across diverse materials and processes, he explores tensions between the natural and the constructed, the visible and the imagined, the body and the object. These dualities generate
forms that inhabit a precisely ambiguous space, resisting fixed interpretation while inviting mental participation.
Through installation, performance, and spatial composition, he examines how matter, gesture, and sound elicit perceptual and emotional responses. For this edition of To Be Antwerp, the artist will present a vitrine installation featuring selected pieces from his project Paths and Holders, originally developed at Sint Lucas Antwerpen.
Within this terrain, sculpture becomes a transitional zone where resonance, silence, and experience remain in continuous transformation.
